Third-Year Professional Student Pharmacist

President, Texas A&M Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP)

 


Ms. Lois Kim is a third-year student pharmacist at Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy. Ms. Kim has been an active member in Texas A&M Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP) Chapter, serving as an Advocacy Chair in her P1 year, then having the opportunity to serve as President-Elect in her P2 year, and currently serving as President of the chapter. She also currently serves as Delegate of Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society, member of Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists (TSHP) Student Section Executive Committee, and Policy Chair Work Group Lead of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Policy and Legislative Advocacy Advisory Group (PLAAG). Outside of school, she served as ASHP 2016 Summer Intern after her P1 year in Bethesda, MD, completing her internship in national association management, and was part of the Class of 2017 Summer Pharmacy Internship Program at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, completing her internship in pediatric inpatient pharmacy. Her current areas of interest include pediatrics, internal medicine, education, and pharmacy administration.

Mr. Andrew Ramirez is a second-year student pharmacist at the Texas A&M Rangel College of Pharmacy. Originally from San Antonio, TX, Mr. Ramirez worked as a digital media specialist for the Rangel College of Pharmacy from 2003-2016 before being accepted as a member of the Class of 2020. Mr. Ramirez has since served in the capacity of Marketing Co-Chair of the Ties and Tennis Shoes Memorial 5K, class representative of the Class of 2020, treasurer of the College of Pharmacy Student Council, and President-Elect of the Texas A&M Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP). Outside of the classroom, Mr. Ramirez was part of the Texas A&M Inter-professional Medical Mission to Quesimpuco, Bolivia, delivering and administering medical supplies to the indigenous population. His professional interests include infectious diseases, ambulatory care, and internal medicine. Mr. Ramirez enjoys cooking, community outreach, singing, and is an avid Schnauzer enthusiast.

Vice-President of Programming, Texas A&M Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP)

 


Originally, from Dallas, TX, Kevin Tran attended the University of Texas at San Antonio and is currently a third-year pharmacy student at Texas A&M College of Pharmacy. Mr. Tran has been involved with SSHP since his P1 year. He served as one of the Medication Safety Committee co-chairs who contributed to the development of inter-professional service learning opportunities for students at the college of pharmacy. He is currently continuing his research project in enhanced student communication with a focus in inter-professionalism. Mr. Tran is currently serving as Vice President of Programming of the Texas A&M Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists Chapter.  At the Texas A&M Health Science Center level, Mr. Tran is serving as Vice President and Chancellor’s Student Advisory Council Representative for the Student Governing Board. His professional interests include pharmacy administration, pharmacy informatics, ambulatory care, and medication safety. During his free time, Mr. Tran enjoys watching old horror films, cooking assortments of dishes, and coffee shop exploration.

Ms. Boa Choi is a third-year pharmacy student at Texas A&M, Irma Rangel College of Pharmacy. Ms. Choi has been involved with SSHP since her P1 year, served as a public relations officer developing the first newsletter for SSHP. She is currently serving as Vice President of membership of the Chapter as well as a Student Forum member of an ASHP Policy and Legislative Advocacy Advisory Group. At Rangel College of Pharmacy, Ms. Choi is serving in the Student Council, Advisory Board Member of Peer Mentoring Program, secretary of Phi Lambda Sigma, and president of Phi Delta Chi Fraternity. Her professional interests include ambulatory care and legislative advocacy representing pharmacy careers and positively impacting the South Texas community.

Ms. Laserna is originally from Beaumont, TX, and graduated from Texas A&M University with her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology.  She is currently the Secretary of Student Society of Health-System Pharmacist at Texas A&M Rangel College of Pharmacy. She is a current member of the Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American Pharmacists Association, and National Community Pharmacists Association. Ms. Laserna’s professional interests include psychology, medication safety, critical care, compounding, and geriatrics. She has been involved in research in cognitive and behavioral psychology research and expresses an interest in the overmedication in geriatrics.

Mr. Andy Wong is a third-year pharmacy student at the Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy. He serves as Treasurer, EC member, and oversees all financial matters for his local SSHP chapter. Currently, he is an intern at HEB but is seeking alternative paths to gaining experience in clinical pharmacy, prior to residency. Professional interests include opioid abuse, pharmacy practice, academia, ambulatory care, pharmacy administration, and managed care.

Mr. Eric Souknary is currently a third-year student at Texas A&M University Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy. He earned his Bachelor of Science in biology with an option in neurobiology degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 2014. Currently, he serves as Public Relations Officer for the Texas A&M Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists Chapter. He is also employed as a Pharmacy Intern with CVS Health. His professional interests include psychiatry, ambulatory care, infectious diseases, pharmacy administration, and oncology. Outside of his professional interests, Mr. Souknary likes photography and videography.
